Steve Schlackman is a registered patent attorney and the founder of Schlackman Intellectual Property Law. He holds a JD in Patent Law from the University of Miami School of Law, with additional technical coursework in the biological and chemical sciences through Miami-Dade College and the University of Miami, qualifying him under USPTO Category B to prosecute patents in the life sciences, biotechnology, and chemistry.
Steve has filed over 50 trademark applications across industries ranging from software and consumer products to food and beverage, fashion, medical services, gaming, and the creative arts. His practice covers patent prosecution, trademark registration and enforcement, copyright protection, and IP portfolio strategy. He brings hands-on experience in software development, AI product development, and over a decade of in-house legal and product leadership at a technology company serving the creative industry. He is also an exhibited fine art photographer whose gallery experience in New York, Miami, and Istanbul gave him a creator’s perspective on intellectual property long before he practiced it.

Diana Mederos is a registered patent attorney and Of Counsel at Schlackman Intellectual Property Law. She holds a JD from Florida Coastal School of Law, a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science from Texas A&M International University. She is licensed to practice in Florida and Texas and registered before the USPTO.
Diana prosecutes patents across the life sciences, biotechnology, and chemical arts, backed by advanced technical training in pharmaceutical chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry. She has over a decade of experience working with individual inventors, startups, and small to mid-sized companies to build and protect IP portfolios covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. She was named a 2022 Super Lawyers Rising Star in Intellectual Property Law.
